Our School - Principal's Welcome
Welcome to our wonderful school community! It is with great pride that I extend a warm welcome to all students, families, and visitors to our school. As the principal of Birralee PS, I am excited to share the values and vision that guide us in providing a high-quality education for every child.
Our students are not only encouraged to excel in their academic studies but also to embody values that will guide them throughout their lives. We expect our students to work hard, ask questions, and remain curious about the world around them.
We believe in developing well-rounded individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also kind, caring, and respectful. Integrity, empathy, and a sense of responsibility are core values that we instil in all of our students.
These values are publicly reinforced at each Monday morning assembly when we all recite the school declaration:
At Birralee we learn to live and work together:
To show care and kindness,
To behave with integrity,
To be respectful and responsible,
And strive to achieve our goals.
Our dedicated teachers and support staff are at the heart of our success. They are passionate, highly skilled professionals who are committed to continuous growth.
Through ongoing professional development, our educators stay up to date with the latest research in education, including the science of learning. This ensures that we provide the most effective and evidence-based teaching practices for our students. We value explicit instruction, recognising the importance of clear, structured teaching to support all learners. All classroom teachers undertake an intensive 8-day course to gain accreditation as a Spalding trained teacher. (Spalding is a program that incorporates the explicit teaching of phonics, grammar, punctuation, reading and writing).
In addition to our strong core curriculum, we offer a wide range of specialist subjects including Music, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Visual Art, Physical Education, Mandarin, and English as an Additional Language. These subjects help nurture creativity, critical thinking, and global awareness. Additionally, there are many opportunities for students to experience: an annual production, musical soirees, band, orchestra, choirs, athletics, swimming, maths Olympiad, cross country, inter-school sports days etc.).
Above all, our teachers truly care for the well-being of each student. We work together to create a supportive, safe, and inspiring environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to grow.
We strive to create an environment where every child feels safe, valued, and motivated to do their very best. Together, as a school community, we work to inspire students to not only succeed but to become individuals who contribute positively to the world around them.
Thank you for choosing our school. We look forward to partnering with you throughout your child’s journey at primary school.
